I lay in a dark corner of the tavern, my head resting wearily on my front paws. People and creatures of so many shapes and sizes passes by, each of them with a different scent . . .but none paying more then a passing glance to me. Now, the wolf in my could have cared less. In fact, it was a wolf's prefference to remained unnoticed most of the time. However, the human in me was longing for someone, anyone in fact, to perhaps look a little closer . . .to take pitty on a stray dog that they might mistake me as . . . For you see, even a wolf would rather be inside then out . . .at least one in my surcomstances.

Vander stood outside the tavern and observed the activity inside. Vander grew nervous because it has been a while since the has been in the valley. He was anxious. He left a large amount of acquaintances behind him the last time he was here.
He walked into the tavern, and noticed werewolf couched in the corner, he stared at him for a slight second and approached the bar. His young face and even younger body could barely bee seen over the counter top.

Suddenly, someone caught my attention. I raised my nose slightly, looking at the strange person that had just entered the tavern. Unlike most of the others, his eyes lingered on me for a time. I sniffed the air, catching his scent. Such strange eyes . . . I found myself thinking. The wolf was curious, but not nearly interested enough at this point to rise from its spot on the floor and cross the tavern floor. But still, I watched . . .

I was wandering around the city when I finally decided I was thirsty enough to stop and get something to drink. I walked into a nearby tavern and ordered a drink. I stood next to a man, a kid really, that looked sorta familiar. I thought about it for a few moments and when I couldnt remember him, I turned and asked. "Hi, this sounds weird but...do I know you? I'm Adonis. You seem really familiar to me." As I finished saying that, it hit me. "Hey, I do know you, we met when you were giving that message from your dryad cousin to Trish. Right?" I glanced around the room to check to see if anything should be noted. But the only thing I saw worth noting was a werewolf in the corner. I turned back to the counter before I realized that I knew the wolf as well as the kid next to me.
"Morgan? Is that you over there? It is, come on over here, let me buy you a drink. I havent seen you in......I dont know how long. But it sure is good to see you." I walked on over to pull him up and into a firm handshake. This stop at the tavern was a better idea than I had thought it was at first.

Vander smiled at the familiar face, "Adonis! It has been far too long. I am Vander Arcite." Vander took a deep bow and leaves dropped from his hair. Vander was overjoyed at the sight of someone he new. It has been a while since he left the valley.
Vander heard Adonis's words and and asked, "You know that werewolf?"

When Adonis walked into the tavern, my head came up instantly. Now there was a familiar face, I thought as I sniffed intently. My old friend stopped at the bar and began speaking with the stranger that had first caught my attention. There was still something about the young man that interested me and the wolf, though I couldn't quite place the reason for that interest. It didn't take long however for Adonis to notice me, even as secluded as I was. In no time he had crossed the room and was offering his hand. My tail thumped the tavern floor a couple of times happily. And, upon thinking it, I stood from the floor and took hold of Adonis' hand as a man. A thin sheen of sweat covered my body, as it always did upon shifting my form, however, there was a smile on my face. "It has been too long, old friend. It is good to see you as well. And I would be most thankful for a drink . . ." My words trailed off a little as my eyes shifted back towards the bar . . .towards the young man Adonis had just been speaking to. "Another friend, I would suppose?"

Sita walked in swiftly, not noticing anyone except the bartender who nodded his head toward the back and she walked back. One of her very old friends was supposed to be meeting her here tonight. Quietly she pulled back the curtain that covered the doorway and walked in, her trench coat disappearing from view in a matter of seconds.

I was talking absorbed in talking to and buying a drink for Morgan and Vander that I didn’t notice Sita walk in. I did hear the curtain swish as it opened and closed. I threw my senses out and realized that the person who had walked in was Sita. I cringed when I thought of all the conflicting emotions that were about to crash together here. I wondered what would happen if Morgan was still in love with her. I tapped Morgan on the shoulder and nodded back at the curtained back room. Once he was looking that way, I walked back there and slipped in the seat next to Sita and gave here a kiss. I slid an arm around her and whispered that I loved her once again as I settled to wait for our friends.

I had just gotten to the bar when I too heard the tavern doors open and close. At first I payed it little mind and thought only to enjoy a much needed drink and the company of new and old friends . . .however, when Adonis tapped me on the shoulder and directed my attention to the curtained back room I couldn't help but catch Sita's familiar scent. My mouth went dry and I could have dropped my drink. I watched Adonis slip into the room that she had walked into and I found myself wishing that I didn't have a wolf's hearing. I couldn't miss his voice and three words. The wolf in me wimpered and paced uneasily within me. However, after a moment of turmoil, I silenced the wolf and downed my drink in a single swallow. I sighed and smiled to myself. It was painful yes, but she was happy . . .had it been any other but Adonis I might have been more wounded. But, the fact of the matter was, Sita loved him, as she had loved me for a short while. I would not bare them hard feelings for that. It was a true gift to feel love . . .as she had taught me long ago. My thoughts were broken as I noticed that I was not alone. The stranger that Adonis had first met here was still here at the bar. I smiled. "Shall we join them?"

Sita smiled at Adonis then hugged him and gently kissed his cheek. ~I love you too. Why haven't you told me before hmm?~ She gave him an accusing stare. Then she turned to look at Morgan and smiled slightly. She still hoped that he would want to talk to her after the way they had ended. It wasn't harsh but it was sad.
