It was strangely quiet tonight as I sat by the river side, not far out of Blue Ridge. The wolf gazed up at the stars and then down at the water that drifted by so lazy and calm. And the only sound to be heard for miles was the chirping of crickets in the mid summer's air . . . The wolf heaved a sigh and laid his head on his foreopaws. The night was too quiet, how he missed the sound of Sita's music.

Sita was flying with Amunet, twirling and spinning in the air. As they neared a river Sita patted Amunets neck and she landed with a heavy thud, muffled by the leaves. She was grinning like the cheshire cat, then she smelled someone very familiar and that made her smile even more. She crotched in the bushes and started singing softly as she neared the wolf.

I lay there at the river's edge, my eyes closed . . .when I heard something "thud" nearby . . . My ears twiched and my head came up, worried now I looked about and sniffed the air nervously. But then, I heard a voice, a beautiful voice that could have only belonged to one person. Immediately, I stood and spun around, my tail wagging. *Sita!* I could not see her but, I knew it was her all the same.

Sita jumped out of the bushes and tackled him playfully. She hugged him tight and licked his nose. ~Hello Morgan.~ She sat up and smiled at him, ~How have you been?~

She came out of the bushes and tackled me. I licked her back and rolled in the grass with her for a bit before answering her question. *I have been well, though, I have missed you, me and the wolf have missed you." My tail thumped happily on the ground and I let my tongue loll out, as all dogs do when they are happy or excitied.

Sita laughed and ruffled his fur on the top of his head, "I thought you were a wolf, not a dog." She smiled to show she was playing around and lay back on the grass, staring at the stars.

The man in me chuckled. *It is hard to tell the difference sometimes* I closed my eyes happily when she ruffed the fur on my head. *It seems that I am both when you are around.* Then she lay back in the grass and I came to her side and laid my head on her stomach. *It is good to see you again, my love. I was worried that you might be in trouble again with your father, seeing as you have been gone for several days after our last meeting.*

Sita smiled and rest a hand on his head, "Don't worry, I'm starting to think that my father finally figured out I am stronger than him. He also knows that if he tries to attack those I love then I will kill him. He missed by a lucky shot, that poison only just kept him alive. If I had stabbed his heart then........." She didn't want to finish the sentence.

I winned and nuzzled her hand with my nose. *I see, perhaps it is best that you didn't kill him, this way he knows that you are stronger, he will have to live with that fact now . . .* I looked up into the night sky. *I however, have never had a chance to redeem myself with my family . . .I am forever shamed by them.*

Sita nodded her head as he suggested she let him live. She closed her eyes and whispered, "I'm sorry, is there anything I can do to help you?"
